It is home to several schools, including Scripps Ranch High School, as well as Alliant International University and John Paul the Great Catholic University, all of which are served by the San Diego Unified School District. The area is well-known for its landscape and rolling scenery, as well as the abundance of eucalyptus trees everywhere.

Also, located at the heart of the area, is Miramar Lake (also known as Miramar Reservoir) which is the perfect venue for picnics and barbeques, as well as fishing and rowing. The lake area also boasts of a five-mile trail which is popular with local joggers and bikers. For avid golfers, the fairways of the Miramar Memorial Golf Course and the Doubletree Golf are also within short distance.

Scripps Ranch has a number of community and neighborhood parks, and also offers facilities for sports such as tennis and racquetball. Locals also tend to frequent the Farmer’s Market at Spring Canyon Road, while commercial establishments located at the periphery of the community offer abundant shopping and dining experiences.
